Payouts

235 Instant Racing terminals are currently in use, supporting nine different games in two different wagering denominations for two different breeds.

In excess of $17.7 million per month is being wagered through the system at Oaklawn.

Payouts range from the return of the wager itself up to $10,000. As more units are placed in the system, wagers can be developed that offer larger jackpots.

Million dollar jackpots will be possible on an ongoing and constant basis once enough units are in the system.

Revenue Structure

Instant Racing's revenue structure is similar to that of live and simulcast racing. First, the tracks have to establish a takeout rate. Or, if the track so chooses, it can import Instant Racing from another track and simply accept the takeout structures existing at the sending track, just like interstate simulcasting.

At Oaklawn, the takeout ranges from 8% to 12% - similar to the takeout on many slot machines. Of the amount taken out, whatever tax rate that is applied to live or simulcast racing is paid to government, a percentage is paid to horsemen in the form of purses and a percentage is paid to RaceTech for the system itself. The rest is retained by the racetrack for operating costs and profit. Instant Racing breakage is handled exactly like breakage on live or simulcast racing.
